At Vella Radio, we are proud to be a Corporate Sustaining Member of the Four Wheel Drive Association of British Columbia (4WDABC). Since 1977, 4WDABC has been a dedicated advocate for public access to public lands, promoting responsible off-roading practices, and actively working to protect the natural beauty of British Columbia’s backcountry. Their commitment to stewardship, community engagement, and sustainability aligns with our core values, which is why we’re honored to support them.
The Goals of 4WDABC
The Four Wheel Drive Association of BC has a clear mission to:
- Promote recreational off-road activities that are respectful of both public and private lands
- Encourage multiple land-use and access to BC’s stunning back-country while balancing conservation efforts
- Protect natural resources for future generations through sustainable land management practices
- Advocate for land management agencies to expand multi-use areas and trails, and prevent unnecessary closures
- Enhance public awareness of the positive impact recreational off-roading has on communities and nature
- Foster cooperation and friendship among 4WD clubs, individual owners, and outdoor enthusiasts across the province
- Protect the rights of responsible off-roaders by providing a unified voice in legal matters
- Ensure safety and regulation compliance by maintaining a set of clear safety rules and guidelines
Stewardship and Community Engagement
4WDABC is actively involved in a variety of stewardship and community programs, including:
- Building and maintaining shelters, such as the Hale Creek shelter for the public’s use
- Rebuilding and maintaining fire towers in locations like Nahatlatch, Cornwall, and Mt. Lavina
- Hosting clean-up events at public sites throughout BC, removing hundreds of tons of waste over the past decade
- Running 20+ maintenance runs annually to ensure trails and public lands are well-preserved
- Developing off-road parks, including the Stave Lake Motorsport Park in Mission and the Lac du Bois ORV Park in Kamloops
- Organizing special events, such as runs for Burn Survivors and Big Brothers & Sisters, to connect with the community
Additionally, 4WDABC is involved in crucial educational programs like Wheeling Wisely Off-Road Driver Training and Wheelers of Tomorrow Youth Education to ensure responsible use of four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Why We Choose to Support 4WDABC
At Vella Radio, we believe in responsible land use, community development, and preserving our natural resources—all values championed by the Four Wheel Drive Association of BC. As a Corporate Sustaining Member, we have the opportunity to support their efforts to keep BC’s trails and wilderness accessible, safe, and preserved for future generations.
In addition to our membership, we offer 12% discounts at both of our locations for all 4WDABC members (membership number required). It’s our way of giving back to those who share our commitment to maintaining and enjoying BC’s beautiful landscapes.
If you’re passionate about off-roading, preserving BC’s backcountry, or simply want to get involved in an organization that advocates for responsible land use, we encourage you to join the 4WDABC.
