As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a year filled with community engagement, impactful sponsorships, and a steadfast commitment to giving back. At Vella Radio, we’re proud to have supported a wide range of local events, organizations, and causes, each making a positive impact on the lives of those in our community.
Highlights of 2024: Supporting Local Events
One of the standout moments of the year was our involvement with the 55+ BC Games in Salmon Arm. Hosting such a large-scale event in the smallest community ever to do so was a monumental achievement for everyone involved. Working on this event was a true highlight for us, as it showcased the incredible strength and spirit of our community.
Another significant milestone for us was our sponsorship of the Vernon Vipers. There’s something special about attending a game and seeing our branding on banners and patches worn by volunteers. Even more rewarding is seeing our radios in action, helping to keep the event running smoothly and ensuring everything stays on track—while also showcasing our continued support for local sports.
Community Partnerships and Sponsorships
Throughout the year, we were privileged to support several other local initiatives, including BC Golf, Bloom Fest, Bush Babes, Demolition Derby, Sundog Festival, Shuswap Brewersfest, the Kamloopa Powwow, and the Salmon Arm Skating Club, to name just a few. We also partnered with local organizations such as the Shuswap Trail Alliance, Salmon Arm Road Rescue, and the Dragon Boat Festival, ensuring these valuable programs continue to thrive in our region.
Why We Support Local
Giving back to our community is not just a responsibility—it’s something we care about deeply. We understand that many of these nonprofits and small organizations rely heavily on donations and recognition to survive, and we’re honored to be part of their journey. Whether it’s sponsoring a festival, contributing to a local cause, or simply showing up to lend a hand, we are dedicated to supporting our community in every way possible.
The Impact of Shopping Local
When you choose to shop local, you’re doing more than just purchasing a product—you’re making a significant investment in your community. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) highlights the impact of shopping locally, noting that for every $100 spent at a locally owned business, approximately $68 stays within the community. In comparison, only $43 remains when spent at large chain stores or multinational companies. Additionally, 66% of Canadian small business owners contribute to local charities and sponsor community events, ensuring that neighborhoods remain vibrant and connected. This reinforces the importance of small businesses in local economies, and it’s a key reason why we at Vella Radio are so passionate about supporting the communities we serve.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead to 2025, Vella Radio remains committed to supporting the people, events, and organizations that make our community so special. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible year with us. We can’t wait to work together in the coming year to achieve even greater things.
Happy Holidays from all of us at Vella Radio—here’s to a fantastic New Year!
